Saturday 8 October, Science Center Nemo in Amsterdam organized the Night of the Nerds: a whole night full of talks, clinics, workshops, demontrations and exhibits about new technology, design and innovation, for young people aged 16 – 20 years.
Think of making your own Light Graffiti, or music with Kinect technology, or molecular cooking or your own luminous fabrics. We also had the luminous dress of Fergie on stage!
I had the privilege of participating in the organization and content creation of the event, and talked together with Klaas Vegter, Anouk Wipprecht and Margreet de Kok on the convergence of technology and entertainment and how we designers make technology more meaningful in the everyday life of people around the world.
The teenagers loved the night, and I’m sure that all got home inspired and in awe because of some of the exciting demonstrations. Thanks Nemo, for hosting the Night of the Nerds, and big thanks to 2,200 young nerds from Amsterdam and far away for joining us and showing your passion for technology!
